People tend to still be surprised when they find out that their favorites celebrities are battling with a mental issue such as depression and anxiety. One of the reasons is that people tend to believe that celebrities live such perfect lives and that nothing else could go wrong because they have the fame as well as the fortune. Turns out that they are merely humans just like us. Which is why a lot of them get so stressed as well, most of them even feel the pressure of trying to be perfect in the eyes of the people and that could definitely be emotionally, physically, and mentally draining. In some unfortunate circumstances, there are even celebrities who decide to end their lives because of this pressure. One of them is reality star turned model, Kendall Jenner.
KENDALL’S DISCUSSES ANXIETY STRUGGLES
The reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians has been running for more than 14 years now on the E! Network, Kendall was still a child when the show started along with her dad Bruce Jenner (now known as Caitlyn Jenner), her mom Kris Jenner, along with her sisters, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Kylie. Which is why Kendall’s life has been pretty much in the spotlight, in fact, on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians last year, the reality star turned model actually revealed that she has been suffering from anxiety as well as how she has been trouble during the night because of her sleep paralysis which is of course definitely related to her anxiety.
However, her fans shouldn’t be worried at all since she admitted that she has managed to find a way to deal with this particular mental issue that she’s been going through. On her new app, the model revealed that it was definitely a real struggle for her to live with it for like a year but she has been indeed trying to cope with it. Jenner even talked about how there was actually a time that her anxiety definitely got the best of her while she was on a plane, but luckily, she managed to calm herself down. The reality star turned model also talked about how she literally felt her heart beating so fast that she felt kind of numb for like an hour.
One of the things that she said helps her cope with her anxiety is that she tries to get her mind off of things and tries to do some breathing exercises every now and then whenever she would feel like her anxiety is about to get triggered, just like when she will fly on a plane. Distraction with breathing exercises is definitely one way to do it and even experts believe that this is one of the best ways, however, it is definitely not for everyone.
THE REAL DEAL ABOUT ANXIETY AND PANIC ATTACKS
Based on the recent statistics from the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, there are now more than 6 million people in the entire United States who are actually suffering from anxiety and panic disorder, that abrupt feeling of fear and the intensity of discomfort can totally take over a person’s mind and could lead to not so good circumstances. Normal, people who know that they have anxiety and could have panic attacks are most likely to be afraid that they could experience an attack anytime anywhere, which makes things worse since they are worried about that fact alone. The Anxiety and Depression Association of America also found that women are most likely to have anxiety as well as panic attacks more compared to men.
According to psychologist and the man behind the book, Finding Peace When Your Heart Is In Pieces, Dr. Paul Coleman panic attacks are usually because of anxiety disorder, this has also got to be the most common mental issue in the world aside from depression. Many people actually experience mild attacks but it is not a huge impact that they would be diagnosed.
Coleman also explained how this could be very dangerous since the brain basically overthinks that leads to triggering the anxiety whenever a person is in a situation that he or she would be in fear. Which is why Kendall’s breathing technique is considered to be one of the best possible ways to calm yourself down.
