It is a fact that people will always have some room for dessert no matter how heavy their meal was because desserts are said to come straight to the heart (figuratively) and not to the stomach. However, some people tend to get so worried because of the calories and sugar that is normally present in desserts like cakes, ice creams and other sweets and pastries. Desserts are definitely not necessary, but it is considered as a guilty pleasure.

This may seem more of a treat than an actual dessert, but if ever you need to add some chocolate into your dessert, go for the dark ones. Dark chocolates are healthier than the milk and white ones, it is full of antioxidants, vitamins and other nutrients. One of the greatest benefits of dark chocolates is that it helps lower the body mass index or the BMI.

It is great for people who are aiming to achieve their ideal BMI or for people who wants to lower it even further. If you love chocolates so much but then you are too scared to gain weight and increase your blood sugar, go for the dark ones. In this case, the darker the better.

Another great thing about dark chocolates is that it helps when it comes to boosting the brain power. That is why some people say that it is best to eat dark chocolates when studying or before you take an exam. It gives the brain some sort of short-term boost, like increasing you alert lever, for about three to four hours, because one of the components of dark chocolates is flavonols. This dilates blood vessels and allows more oxygen to reach certain areas of the brain.

If you happen to love ice cream but you are trying to eat healthily and get into shape, don’t stress because yogurts are as good but a healthier version of ice cream. They’re both dairy but yogurt technically is way healthier because of its calcium, vitamin B-12, potassium and magnesium. Yogurts also have what they call good bacteria” or probiotics and help well with digestion. It also boosts the immune system of a person because of good bacteria and will the person more healthy than usual. Since it is full of calcium, it also helps when it comes to preventing osteoporosis.

ADD FRUITS ON EVERYTHING

Instead of having some cakes, ice creams, puddings, pies etc. Why not make everything extra healthier by adding fruits on it? If you are craving for some cakes and pies, try making your own so that you can control the sugar content. It would be best to make a fruity one like strawberry cake, kiwi cake, mango slice cake, lemon cake and more. There is literally hundreds of recipes that you can find online.

As for the ice cream, instead of choosing the flavors like cookie dough, cookies and cream, rocky road, caramel fudge, why not try the ones that are full of fruity flavors. Although, it would still be best to go for yogurt instead of ice cream.

One last alternative that you can easily make at home, is by making fruit popsicles. It is such an easy thing to do that you can even make it with your kids.
