Top Psychiatrists Analyzes U.S. President Trump’s Mental State

The entire world was surprised when one of America’s most successful businessmen, Donald Trump, actually won the 2016 United States Presidential elections. Trump, who is from the Republican Party, went up against former First Lady and Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton. He is also known for being the host of The Apprentice. One of the reasons why Trump is considered to be one of the most controversial U.S. Presidents is that because of his choice of words during the election period, and even now that he is already the president. He is also known for making comments and decisions that don’t seem to be appreciated by his fellow Americans.

Which is why 27 of the best psychiatrists in the country actually got together and wrote a book about the current U.S. President entitled, The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump. Earlier this year, Psychology Today published a post entitled, “The Elephant in the Room: It’s time we talk talked openly about Donald Trump’s mental health.”

This post actually went viral that had almost a million of reads. People who are on both sides of the political spectrum even shared their thoughts on the comment section, and of course, mental health professionals weighed in as well.

Dr. John Gardner from Hal Brown, MSW, who is also the founder of Duty to Warn, which is an organization that intends to earn the country about the current president’s mental instability. There are actually more than 60,000 psychiatrists who signed Dr. Gardner’s petition that states, “ We, the undersigned mental health professionals, believes in our professional judgment that Donald Trump manifests a serious mental illness that renders him psychologically incapable of competently discharging the duties of President of the United States.”

The petitions also explained how these mental health professionals would like to request that Trump will be removed from office, although unfortunately, it is not as simple as that. However, they managed to back this up with a legal statement. “According to the article 4 of the 25th amendment of the Constitution, which states that the president will be replaced if he is ‘unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.’”

Psychiatrists referred to the president’s mental state as unstable

In 1973, there is this thing called, the Goldwater Rule, wherein the American Psychiatric Association enacted to prohibit mental health professionals from diagnosing any public figure without any formal clinical evaluation. However, everything changed when Donald Trump was elected as president in 2016. Technically, these psychiatrists are just picking out signs of danger when it comes to Trump’s health by analyzing his statements and behavior.

The President’s lies, contradictory statements, his inability to hold a thought, lack of empathy, and more, are just some of the things that psychiatrists wanted to point out which is why they have released this book to actually make the people have a further understanding of this matter.

The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, which is a book regarding the thoughts of mental experts, is actually led by Yale psychiatrist, Dr. Brandy Lee. She is just one of the 27 writers who claim that the president, “has created unprecedented mental health consequences across our nation and beyond,”

The book doesn’t just consist of the American psychiatry’s professional body, it also involves a linguist and a journalist.

A psychoanalyst from San Francisco, Dr. Thomas Singer, referred to the election results as a “woundedness at the core of the American group self.”

Some experts actually feel that these mental health professionals shouldn’t have to release these following statements toward the president even if some of them are actually true. Which is why some people who voted for him admitted that they actually regret their decision.

According to Reuters poll, one out of eight people who voted for Donald Trump said that they wouldn’t do it again if they could turn back the time.

A 34-year-old Trump voter named Beverly Guy said that if she had to walk around and wear a shirt that says who she voted for, she would’ve voted someone else especially after what has been happening with the Trump administration. “I care more about my neighbors than I do about politics,” she stated.

According to American politics experts, it is perfectly normal for the voters to feel this way especially with everything that the media are saying whether it is good or bad. American politics expert, Elaine Kamarck, said that this doesn’t really matter now, but it would matter when the time comes if wants to be re-elected.
