Apples

Apples (which are believed to be rich in nutrient and fiber) do not only aid in the maintenance of your blood-sugar level, warding off cravings for foods rich in calories, they also can help avert excess water weight and retention. They can be used in virtually everything be it beverages, main courses, or desserts. According to Karen Langston, a certified nutritionist and board member of The National Association of Nutritional Professionals, apples are the perfect addition to your weight-loss plan. An apple a day never hurt anyone after all.

Pumpkins

That’s right, save some for later during Halloween! Pumpkin has been said to be one of the greatest weight-loss foods. Langston says. They are a super healthy treat full of fiber, minerals, and vitamins, and low in calories. Whether consumed fresh or canned, you are still bound to get the same benefits nutrition-wise. One way to maximize the benefits of pumpkins according to Langston is by mixing 1/4 cup of canned pumpkin with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and a few raw almonds.

Vanilla

Alysa Bajenaru, a registered dietitian, and certified personal trainer suggest adding a splash of vanilla to hot coffee or a cold smoothie for a sweet taste without the sugar. Vanilla has been proven to be a very good substitute for sugar, thus helping to reduce an individual’s sugar intake. It has also been revealed that an ordinary sniff of vanilla can go a long way in the reduction of an individual’s cravings for chocolates and sweets.

N.B: This doesn’t mean that vanilla flavored ice creams can help in the weight-loss process.

Dates

Rather than succumbing to the alluring tune of candies singing into your ears, try consuming a few dates. They are profoundly rich in items that can enhance energy levels, and also balance sodium levels such as magnesium, vitamin B6, potassium, and fiber. It is advised to make do with a few dates as dried fruit is a more “concentrated source of calories.”
