Charles Bronson – Aerial Gunner In The Air Force (1943 – 1946)

The late Charles Bronson, who is remembered for the 1968 film Once Upon a Time in the West, began his acting career in 1951. This was several years after he left the US air force. It’s not widely known that Bronson served as a combat pilot during World War II. He enlisted in 1943 and served until the war ended. He even received a purple heart. After leaving the war, he did various odd jobs then discovered acting. Bronson died at the age of 81 in 2003 from lung cancer. He left us with a plethora of Western and action films such as Death Wish and The Magnificent Seven.
