Endomorph Diet: Here’s What You Needed to Know

Every individual is different from the other in ways more than one. This is the reason why a weight loss regimen would vary from person to person. Yes, there exist a few universal truths like you have to decrease your calorie intake and be more active. However, things don’t end there. Breakdown of specific macronutrients and the type of ideal food does not happen in the same for two people. This means the diet that works for one person need not produce the same results on another person.
One effective way to personalize your nutrition plan is to include an endomorph diet in your lifestyle. This particular diet is quite fruitful for those who possess an endomorph body type. Though an endomorph diet is not a new entry in the health scenario, it has been gaining wide currency in recent times. Below there is everything that you needed to know regarding this diet plan.
What is an Endomorph?
Before you proceed further, you ought to know what exactly is an Endomorph. Eminent psychologist William Sheldon put people in three different categories based on build and body composition – ectomorphs, mesomorphs, and endomorphs. Ectomorphs are long and lean. Gaining muscle or fat is never an easy task for them.
Those who are mesomorphs have an athletic build and tend to lose and gain weight quite easily. We are discussing Endomorphs here, are known to carry excess fat around certain parts of their bodies. Since they have slower metabolisms, weight loss automatically becomes an arduous task for them. Among the celebrities, Beyonce, Sofia Vergara, and Marilyn Monroe belong to this category.
The Endomorph Diet
Although there is no official bunch of rules that endomorphs need to abide by, there are more than a few recommendations that you would come across the internet regarding what to consume for every body type. The American Council on Exercise is an organization that recommends the ideal diet for ectomorphs, endomorphs, and mesomorphs.
Endomorphs are sensitive to carbs and insulin. They turn foods with a higher level of carbs into sugar. This sugar transforms into fat. Consequently, the body fat percentage rises along with the risk of developing diabetes. Owing to this reason, endomorphs must eat fats, ample protein, and stay away from refined carbs such as sweets, bread, cereal, and others. Around 35% of their calories should come from protein, 35% should come from fat, and the remaining 30% from carbohydrates.
What Foods Are Included in an Endomorph Diet?
The foods that are highly recommended during this diet are non-starchy veggies like cabbage, green beans, pepper, cucumbers, tomatoes, beets, asparagus, and Brussels sprouts. Aside from them, you need to have starchy vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots, and squash, fruits such as apples, pears, berries, and citrus. There are lots more.
If you are on an endomorph diet, you need to incorporate a lot of foods into your diet. Some of them are olive oil, nut butter, nuts and seeds, avocado, and avocado oil. It will also help to add quality proteins such as eggs, salmon, and poultry, whole grains such as millet, brown rice, oats, amaranth, and quinoa. Not to forget that dairy products like yogurt and cheese, as well as beans, and lentils are also essential in an endomorph diet.
What Opinion Do the Nutritional Experts Hold?
The average Endomorph will be quite healthy, but the rationale working behind it has a lot of flaws. There is a scarcity of facts based on science that shows which diet might be appropriate for which body type.
The fact that endomorphs are resistant to insulin can be incorrect as well. Additionally, without having proper knowledge of the blood work of an individual, it’s always wrong to predict whether they suffer from blood sugar issues, or whether they are prediabetic. However, if you look at the brighter side, an endomorph diet can prove to be helpful. For example, reducing the consumption of refined carbohydrates is beneficial for everyone, irrespective of their body type. If you can limit your carb intake and get physically active, it’s good for you. Plain and simple.
Everybody is bound to be different from the other. If you are reeling under the effect of weight issues, you can always take a dietary approach that’s tailor-made for you. Aside from that, a consistent exercise routine is helpful. Eating healthy alone is not enough.
