Jennifer Lopez or JLO is more famous, can do anything, whether acting, dancing, singing, or judging talent competitions. Yes, she can do just about anything and with so much chutzpah. She recently performed on The Super Bowl LIV’s Halftime Show and left people in awe over her incredible fitness. She even showed her pole dancing skills, and it was an iconic show. Her curvy body and her toned abs are stuff that envious dreams are made of.
However, it does not come easy. She follows a strict diet and fitness routine that helps her stay on top of her fitness game and gives the new kids on the block a run for their money. JLO is into her fifties now, but one look at her, and you will be like, wait, what is she fifty? She believes her secret to a super fit body is consistency, that is, consistently eating healthy and working out. Here are top tips from the queen herself to stay fit and healthy and look way younger than her years.
New Dietary Challenges
Though Lopez is all for eating healthy carbs and loves eating quinoa, she and her boyfriend, former professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez recently followed a fitness challenge where she stayed away from carbs and sugar for ten days. This was her way of doing a Ketogenic diet. More like keto, she upped her protein and fat intake and drastically reduced her carbohydrate intake. The diet makes you go into ketosis, which burns your fat and uses it as a primary source.
The purpose of the challenge was not to eliminate carbs. If you attempt this kind of low-carb diet, you must replace it with courgette noodles, leafy greens, and cauliflower rice. Ensure you amp up your protein intake and continue to eat raw veggies and nuts.
Skip a Workout, Said JLO Never
Lopez trains mean like an athlete and ensure she gives her 100 percent every time she steps into the gym. Even when she is touring, she never skips a workout. Some people may think that working out is a chore, but she loves it, and regular workouts keep her happy. Her morning workouts are her favorite.
When she begins her day with workouts, she has extra energy and motivation that keeps her going. She also uses exercise to improve social activity and uses that time to work out with her boyfriend.
MIX It up to Keep It Interesting
J-Lo always switches up her workout routines so that her body does not get used to the regular drill. If the workout becomes too easy, then it does become a challenge for her. She has different trainers in different parts of the country, and each teaches her different types of workouts. Tracy Anderson is one of her trainers, and she encourages her to focus on multiple body parts such as upper body, core, thighs, and booty.
In New York, J-Lo has trainers in David Kirsch and Ngo Okafor. With David, she does short bursts of interval training. With NGO, she does an hour of circuit training and an extra half-hour of cardio. She has also trained with Dodd Romero, a trainer and lifestyle coach who has also worked with Lopez’s boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, for years. She is not just into circuit training, but she also loves to dance to work out.
Lift Heavy
JLO believes in lifting heavy, yes those light pink dumbbells do not do it for her. And if you watch her leg press nearly 300 pounds, you will realize she is into strength training. No wonder, she is in the best shape of her life.
Lopez’s trainer’s increased the weight probably to impress her Instagram followers and help beat plateaus. Lifting heavy is the best way to lose fat, increase strength and muscle mass. This practice of lifting heavier is also progressive overload, which gives you greater and more sustainable results.
