Ryan Gosling -Mark Wahlberg – ‘The Lovely Bones’

The recasting for The Lovely Bones is a rather controversial one. Reports suggested that Ryan Gosling, who was initially taken on board to play the role of Jack Salmon had a fallout with the makers.

Ryan decided to put on weight to look perfect for the character of a grieving father. Ryan thought that it was necessary, but the director Peter Jackson thought otherwise. There was a kind of miscommunication during the pre-production and that led to confusion. Jackson had no choice but to replace him with Mark Wahlberg.

Jackson’s wife, Fran Walsh, however, had a different version of the whole story. She said that it was Gosling who came to them and said he was not the right actor for the role as he was too young. The makers had to let go of Gosling despite being keen to cast him.
