Gerard McSorley -Martin Sheen – ‘The Departed’

The 2006 crime thriller flick is an award-winning film by popular Hollywood filmmaker, Martin Scorsese. It was both a commercial and critical success. The cast includes the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Mark Walhberg, Martin Sheen, and others.

Many of you might not know, Sheen, chosen to play the role of Captain Oliver Queenan, was not Scorsese’s first choice. Gerard Sorley, the popular Irish star was initially cast in that role.

McSorley spent weeks preparing for the character and was determined to give his all to the film. He even filmed a few scenes in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, Scorsese fired him and brought Martin Sheen in his place. That was heart-breaking.
